Adding an important Provenance from the collection of C.T.Loo before an auction is often a sign of a high premium. This piece was estimated at only €4,000, but at €63,000, it was a complete steal.
This type of object highlights the splendour of the Tang Empire, the cooperation from the West, the special technique of silver gilding, all of which are the most important messages of the period. Currently, gold and silver are at a low ebb, and while the last century was led by the famous collector Carl Kempe, the 21st century is still searching for a leader.
