宋代筆記 vol.78 胡惠春南宋龍泉窯束口茶盞:宋代茶文化的結晶 - ex-J.M.Hu Longquan Tea Bowl, the Essence of Tea Culture in Southern Song Dynasty.

Longquan kiln tea bowls, its shape is the most important is full of rounded, the mouth of the thick accumulation of glaze, showing a trace such as the waves of the pinkish-green colour. The glaze must be shiny and smooth, and the glaze colour varies naturally throughout the bowl.

Another similar work by Mathior Komor, which fetched over RMB 2 million at Sotheby's, was characterised by an extremely thick glaze, and may have been a heirloom from Japan in the early years.

This type of work should also be appreciated in the context of tea culture. Longquan kiln tea bowl, although not as popular as the Jian kiln throughout the Song dynasty kingdom, but its irreplaceable emerald green, elegant literati full of modelling, is bound to be the Song dynasty Lin'an imperial city of the imperial court concubines love.

The mouth of the bottle should be understood in the context of the aesthetics of the Jian kiln tea bowl, and with the tianmutai (盞托), especially the vermilion lacquer, the reds and greens blend with each other, and there is a distinctive flavour to the piece.

This piece came from the famous Hu Huichun's old collection, and sold for the low price of RMB 880,000, a very lucky find.
