屬於「弄器」範疇的小型青銅鼎，定年為商代晚期者其實並不多見。本件紋飾以典型的商代鳳鳥為主，下接一圈排列工整而醒目的蟬紋，整體視覺效果清朗。皮殼較為清爽，略帶銀光，推測合金錫含量偏高。蟬紋帶狀環飾的做法，可與1987年3月29日江西遂川枚江洪門地段出土的一件商晚期蟬紋鼎相互對照，兩者紋飾幾乎一致。2020年12月香港蘇富比亦曾拍出一件相近的鳳鳥蟬紋三足鼎，出自沐文堂舊藏。
從收藏的角度，小尺寸的弄器青銅鼎或許是一個文氣的選擇。許多藏家追尋香爐，這類或許是十分合適的選擇。

Small-scale bronze ding vessels belonging to the category of “play vessels” (nongqi) and dating to the late Shang dynasty are relatively uncommon. The decoration of the present example combines classic late Shang phoenix-bird motifs with a continuous, neatly arranged band of cicadas that is particularly eye-catching. The surface retains a relatively clean, slightly silvery patina, suggesting a higher tin content in the alloy. The treatment of the cicada frieze closely parallels a late Shang ding unearthed on 29 March 1987 at Hongmen, Meijiang, Suichuan County, Jiangxi, whose ornament is virtually identical. A comparable phoenix-and-cicada ding from the Muwen Tang Collection was sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong in December 2020.
From a collecting perspective, a small nongqi ding of this type offers a refined and understated choice. Many collectors actively seek incense burners; the intimate scale and quiet presence of such a vessel make it a particularly suitable alternative or complement.
A ding with a similarly distinctive curved profile and related decoration in the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., is illustrated in Robert W. Bagley, Shang Ritual Bronzes in the Arthur M. Sackler Collections, Washington D.C., 1987, pp. 462-463, no. 85. Compare also a closely related ding, but with the paired birds confronting in the opposite direction, sold in our New York rooms, 11th September 2012, lot 150; and another of similar form and decoration from the Muwentang Collection, sold in these rooms, 18th December 2020, lot 1005, although the three legs of the present vessel are left undecorated.
美國華盛頓弗利爾美術館藏一類器，具與本品相近的獨特弧形輪廓，並飾以類似紋飾，著錄於貝格立，《賽克勒藏商代青銅禮器》，華盛頓，1987年，頁462至463，編號85。另可參考一例，惟雙鳥反方向對稱，售於紐約蘇富比2012年9月11日，編號150。沐文堂亦藏一例，紋飾形制與本品相近，售於香港蘇富比2020年12月18日，編號1005，惟本品三足光素無紋。
