In the "Processing the Past" (Wan Gu Zhi You) preview, the coloration of Bronze with Zisha-like patina ware was staged in the central atrium of the Sotheby’s gallery, set thoughtfully behind a Huanghuali horseshoe-back armchair. Nicolas Chow seamlessly intertwines the hues of the Huanghuali chair, the Zisha-like patina bronze, and the Zi'ou (Persimmon-red Tenmoku) bowl, crafting a profound homage to the lineage of classical Chinese colors and a masterclass in aesthetic interconnectedness.
This curation redefines the paradigms of taste, classification, and the very nature of auction previews. Human civilization once dawned within the depths of primordial caves; now, within this dimly illuminated gallery, the sprouts of that very civilization seem to be quietly breaking through the soil, reborn in a new light.
