罕見尺寸,四魚也屬於罕見品種,僅次四孔雙魚洗。此類早年皆以200萬港元以上成交,但近年收藏群體、品味都有變化,值得關注的一件器物。
Of rare dimensions, the Four Fish motif itself also belongs to a scarce category, ranking just below the celebrated Four-aperture Double Fish basins. Comparable examples were consistently realized at over HK$2,000,000 in earlier years. However, shifts in the collecting community and in prevailing taste in recent times make this an object of particular interest and worthy of close attention.

Catalogue Note
This type of Longquan ware with fish appliqués at the centre of the dish most commonly features paired fish designs, while examples with four fish are exceptionally rare. Compare a late Yuan to early Ming dynasty dish with four fish in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Longquan of the World: Longquan Celadon and Globalization, Beijing, 2019, cat. no. 116; another illustrated in Julian Thompson, 'Chinese Celadons', Arts of Asia, November-December 1993, p. 65, fig. 4 right, sold in these rooms, 5th November 1996, lot 604; and a third example included in the exhibition Chinese Celadons and Other Related Wares in Southeast Asia, Southeast Asian Ceramics Society, Singapore, 1979, cat. no. 123, pl. 98. Compare also a damaged dish formerly in the Ehime Museum of Art collection, also decorated with four fish, which was later sold at Christie's New York, 23rd September 2022, lot 903.
