Ancient terracotta horse figurine with intricate patterns. The horse wears ornate, draped cloth, showcasing a regal, historical design.

Pottery horses from the Northern Wei dynasty are exceedingly rare. Since the Han dynasty, the horse had long served as an emblem of imperial power and aesthetic refinement. These Northern Wei examples, richly adorned, formed an integral part of dynastic ritual and ceremonial display, embodying both the grandeur and the symbolic artistry of the court.
