這件邢窯的器物是唐代的極簡主義風格,與大明宮出土的邢窯圈足茶碗同款,特別之處在於藍理捷的審美甄選,圈足打磨細膩,圈足內作弧線凸起致敬金銀器。藍理捷明顯沒有過度漂洗這件器物,釉光溫潤。這類淺碗應該是唐代飲茶的茶碗,或為宮中之物。

唐邢窯白釉碗

12.7 cm (5 in.) diam.


敞口,斜弧壁,下收寬而淺的圈足,造型圓巧,胎體勻稱敦實,修旋齊整;碗身施以白釉釉至足牆,釉汁瑩潤,白中閃灰,露胎處可見堅實緻密的白色細潔胎骨,瓷化程度高,通身光素無飾;邢窯白瓷為北方白瓷代表窯口,唐代陸羽《茶經》有載:「邢窯類雪」,且分粗細,此件拍品胎釉皆美,素雅非常,且無化妝土,符合「類雪」所雲,是邢白瓷中上佳品種,該期以後因原料匱乏,再無此水準的產品,極具歷史節點特徵。

This Xingyao white-glazed bowl, dating from the Tang dynasty, closely resembles the specimens excavated at the Daming Palace site. Its distinguishing feature lies in the refined aesthetic selection by Lally, whose meticulous polishing of the foot rim emphasizes an elegant, curved protrusion within the foot, inspired by contemporary gold and silver vessels. Notably, Lally has clearly refrained from excessive cleaning, thereby preserving the bowl's gentle and lustrous glaze. Such shallow bowls were likely intended as tea-drinking vessels during the Tang dynasty, possibly even objects reserved for imperial use.

The bowl features a flared rim, gently sloping walls, and a broad, shallow ring foot. Its form is harmoniously proportioned and sturdily crafted, with neatly trimmed contours. Covered with a lustrous white glaze down to the foot wall, the bowl exhibits a subtle grayish hue within its radiant white color. The exposed foot rim reveals a fine, dense white porcelain body, indicative of a high level of vitrification.


The overall simplicity, devoid of decoration, enhances its elegant appeal. As a quintessential representative of northern white porcelains, Xingyao ware was famously described by Lu Yu in the Tang dynasty classic, "The Classic of Tea," as "white as snow," distinguishing finer from coarser types. This particular bowl, devoid of any slip, perfectly exemplifies this snowy quality, representing a superior category of Xingyao porcelain. Following this era, such exceptional quality declined due to a shortage of raw materials, marking this piece as especially significant within its historical context.
