藍理捷品味甄選,器身較薄,北宋特徵明確。釉光瑩潤,釉色淡雅,歐美藏家早年認為此類為紫定,台北故宮博物院有同款的蓋罐,但無瓜稜。另有一件定窯白釉瓜稜嘟嚕瓶,可見此類審美。


Selected by J.J.Lally for its refined aesthetic qualities, this piece exhibits a thinly potted body characteristic of the Northern Song dynasty. The glaze is luminous and delicate, presenting an elegant, understated hue.


Early Western collectors traditionally identified such wares as "Purple Ding." A similar covered jar, lacking melon-shaped lobes, is preserved in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei. Additionally, a comparable melon-lobed vase with white glaze from the Ding kilns further illustrates the aesthetic appreciation of this genre.

直口,溜肩下折,鼓腹作六棱甜瓜式,收圈足,罐身施柿紅色釉,口部並底足刮釉,可見乾白胎骨,其釉面勻潤,其色紅中透褐色,醇厚靜謐,為當陽峪柿釉之特色;


柿釉亦稱紫金釉,創燒於宋代北方窯口,是以氧化亞鐵為呈色劑的高溫釉色,而柿紅的燒造於多個窯口亦能燒造,但以當陽峪窯為集大成者,是以清雅為尚的宋室審美的新寵;


此品口足修利縝密,胎體縝密堅硬,以質樸柔和的凝練造型結合釉色的矜貴內斂,宛若一位遠見卓識的長者,守望歲月漫漫。

A DANGYANGYU PERSIMMON-GLAZED JAR

The jar has a straight mouth, gently sloping shoulders that turn sharply downward, and a rounded belly shaped into six lobes reminiscent of a melon, tapering into a circular foot. The body is glazed in a persimmon-red glaze, while the mouth rim and footring have been carefully wiped clean, revealing the pale, white clay body. The glaze surface is evenly smooth, exhibiting a rich, reddish hue subtly infused with brown tones—profound and tranquil—typical of Dangyangyu persimmon glaze ware.


Persimmon glaze, also known as "Zijin glaze" (purple-gold glaze), originated from Northern kiln centers during the Song dynasty, characterized by its high-temperature iron oxide-based coloring agent. Although several kilns were capable of producing persimmon glaze ceramics, the Dangyangyu kiln is widely recognized as the pinnacle of this art form, embodying the refined aesthetic sensibilities favored by the Song imperial court.


This particular vessel demonstrates meticulous craftsmanship, especially in the finely finished mouth and foot areas. Its clay body is compact and hard, with a design characterized by elegant simplicity and gentle contours, harmoniously united with its precious yet understated glaze color. The jar itself seems akin to a wise elder, quietly observing the passage of time with grace and insight.
