此件黑漆剔犀長方蓋盒，造型規整，尺寸適中（13 × 10.8 × 高8.5 cm），為十七至十八世紀經典之作。通體髹黑漆為地，採用剔犀（guri）工藝，於多層不同色漆（黑、紅等）堆積厚胎之上，精工剔刻流暢對稱的如意雲頭紋。刀法圓潤深峻，紋飾起伏有致，側面剖視可見清晰層次分明的「斑紋」效果，充分展現剔犀工藝特有的立體感與色彩韻律。盒體配日本木盒，曾於香港大學美術博物館展出。

This elegantly proportioned rectangular box and cover, measuring 13 × 10.8 × 8.5 cm, exemplifies the refined guri (tixi) lacquer technique of the 17th–18th century. The entire surface is coated in black lacquer over multiple layers of contrasting coloured lacquers (primarily black and red). Masterfully carved with symmetrical, fluid ruyi cloud-head motifs, the deep, rounded incisions reveal the distinctive layered “marbled” effect characteristic of guri lacquer. The carving is crisp yet smooth, creating a striking sense of depth and rhythmic movement. Accompanied by its original Japanese wood box and previously exhibited at the University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong.
