Liao dynasty sancai ware has long been significantly undervalued in the market, despite its high artistic merit and rarity. In this sale, a particularly fine example realized only HKD 44,500—an unmistakably depressed price level for works of this quality. It is telling that Kochukyo (Mayuyama Ryusendo) moved decisively to acquire the piece, a gesture that reflects its confidence in the category’s future potential and may well serve as a signal of a shifting market perception.
