雲崗石質十分疏鬆，辨識度高。這件器物賣的是雲崗的情懷，但是隨著近年石窟寺的追溯力度加大，其以後流通的難度也是藏家要考慮的因素。

此尊砂岩浮雕菩薩眉目修長，臉型簡方，頭戴高冠，呈秀骨清像，屬北魏典型。因面龐輕微斜側，可推知全像於原龕內或側身向佛。《華嚴經》有言：「菩薩摩訶薩聞法喜悅，生淨信心……欣樂信解無上法寶」；此尊菩薩五官端好，面容含笑，其貌愉靜超凡，恰如聆受佛法後法喜充滿之態。
可比一尊砂岩供養天菩薩像，胡跪合掌，側身向佛，其面目清秀，笑容慈悅，與此尊神韻頗似，或出自山西大同雲岡石窟，現藏美秀美術館，甲賀，詳見官網；再比一尊菩薩首像，雲岡石窟出，現藏京都國立博物館，編號C甲87。市場所見亦可比兩例，皆為坂本五郎舊藏，其一售於香港蘇富比2013年10月8日，編號135，其二售於香港蘇富比2024年10月29日，編號631。

Catalogue Note
Compare a related sandstone figure of a bodhisattva, rendered kneeling before Buddha with the hands clasped together, possibly from the Yungang Grottoes in Datong, Shanxi province, now in the collection of Miho Museum, Koka, and illustrated on the museum website. Compare also a similar bodhisattva head from the Yungang Grottoes now housed in the Kyoto National Museum, Kyoto, no. C A 87.
