在唐時代，這種原材料的價格往往是黃金的數十倍，因此，三彩中的藍彩也是極為罕見、珍貴的，通常僅限於皇家、貴族使用。
此盤整體捏塑成四瓣花葉狀，葉邊翻卷向上形成口沿，盤底貼塑四獸蹄足，足端外翹。盤面採用蠟封工藝，在藍釉地上裝飾四散的白色斑點，裝飾效果猶如絲織品中的蠟染工藝。
它在製作時，以蠟封住器物上欲裝飾的部位，然後罩釉，蠟封處便不沾釉，這樣就能保留原有的白色胎體，形成形狀各異的圖案。這是唐三彩釉面裝飾中最獨特的一種工藝，工序繁複，風格獨具。盤底、四足、口沿，施濃郁的琥珀褐色釉。藍、黃褐、白，三色彩搭配大膽，色調鮮艶明麗，格調脫俗。

同款存世量稀少，瑞士存放玫茵堂收藏的Rietberg Museum有一件同款，釉光剝落較為嚴重：
This dish is modeled into a four-petaled foliate form, with the edges of each leaf elegantly curling upward to create the rim. The underside is supported by four sculpted animal-hoof feet, each outwardly splayed at its tip.
Its surface features a wax-resist decorative technique, displaying scattered white speckles against a rich cobalt-blue glazed background, visually reminiscent of traditional wax-resist patterns found on silk textiles. During production, areas intended to remain white were first sealed with wax before glazing; the waxed sections prevented the glaze from adhering, thus revealing the original white body beneath in various organic motifs.
This represents one of the most distinctive and technically sophisticated decorative methods found in Tang sancai wares. The base, the four feet, and the rim are all finished with a deep amber-brown glaze. The bold yet harmonious combination of cobalt blue, amber-brown, and white glazes achieves a vivid and striking aesthetic, conveying an exceptional refinement characteristic of high-quality Tang ceramics.
